Grace Secondary School

Dorchester based photographer, graphic designer and DCC member Richard Budd and his wife Claire, who has worked for the BBC for 15 years as a broadcast journalist, are building a school in the Sudan.

Richard has visited the country with Bishop Tim Thornton, the Bishop of Sherborne - soon to be Bishop of Truro - and on one visit to the remote Nuba mountains, he met a young man who asked why his school was going to close. Well it was due to the 21 year civil war which eventually ended with a peace agreement in 2005 and the inabilty to fund it since . The school has now closed and the mud hut buildings have fallen down so Richard and Claire are raising £40,000 to build a new one and about £29,000 to run it.

To help fund this project, Dorchester Camera Club will be involved in various fund raising events over the coming months. Please come back regularly to find out whta we're doing to help.

You can find out more about this project by visiting the website Grace Secondary School and maybe helping them along too.
