September 26th Mount-cutting & Presentation with Chris Longridge
27/09/11
Last club evening on September 26th, Chris Longridge gave a very polished presentation of his Longridge System for mounting photographs. He showed us the precision equipment he has developed that allows you to cut out a bevelled window in mounting board to show off your photographs. The method is straightforward and produces clean lines and exact corners & it is easy to do. Di tried using it and made a perfect window mount – something she had never tried before!
Chris has two cutting systems, blades specially designed for cutting board, and a SprintMat that is specifically engineered for bevel cutting. He made some brisk sales to club members in the interval!
For those of you with Logan cutters the specially engineered Longridge blades are compatible & they are definitely better.
After the break Chris told us of the three different types of mounting board and explained the benefits of acid free mounting board. The Longridge Mountboard is a premium quality board. He then showed us many different mounts, including double mounts for photographs taken by Tony and Spike.
It was a very stimulating evening, even for old hands who beforehand had had a sneaking suspicion that they knew it all – there was much to learn and take “on board”!
