Dec 5th An Evening with David & Mary Cantrille

Running Leopard by David Cantrille
Our newer members probably did not know what to expect from David and Mary’s presentation last night.

I am sure they were astounded with what they saw. For a club which is so successful both nationally and internationally we must have a number of photographers of that standard.

Us more senior (in more ways than one) members of the club are aware that the Cantrille’s are a cornerstone of our success. They hold high distinctions with both FIAP (world governing body) and the PSA ( the equivalent for the USA) these are awarded for continued success over a long period in international salons.

I am sure for many people those lists of letters read out by Penny at the start of the evening meant nothing. Having now seen the pictures I am sure they now realise why David and Mary have been awarded them.

We were treated to a multitude of superb Natural History, Landscape and Travel photography. Sharp vibrant images, the ultimate nature record shots, complemented with informative pictures showing accurately behaviour in their habitats. Wonderful landscapes both rural and urban showing the special light available at dawn, dusk and even night.

The local inhabitants were not forgotten and there was some great candid portraiture. If that wasn’t enough there were some fantastic creative images using blur, of birds in flight and my personal favourite image of the night of a charging leopard.

All questions were answered and I think we all became aware of just how dedicated David and Mary are. A great evening, our thanks go to them both.
