Canon 5D Mk III with Canon 70-200 f/2.8L lens, 2.0 seconds at f/11.0, ISO 400

I had finished photographing the dusk at Kirkjufell and returned to our hotel in Grundafjorder. I had packed away my camera gear when I noticed the moon rising over the bay. I quickly put up my tripod and camera and waited for a couple of minutes until the moon cast a beautiful light on the clouds over the mountains. Within a minute of taking my photograph, the moon had disappeared behind the clouds.

I like the way the light of the moon and its slight reflection in the bay balances the lights from the buildings on the right of the picture. I cropped the image to letterbox format to accentuate this balance and also to emphasise the dominance of the mountains.
