Edward Parker spoke eloquently and persuasively, as an enthusiastic photographic opportunist, over a stream of rapidly displayed images illustrating close observation of ‘the rule of thirds’ along with some justified exceptions. Images were from trips made all over the world - often brief and on short notice, and so demanding quick judgement and resourcefulness. There were welcome tips and reminders for making good use of wide-angle, standard, and both short- and long-telescopic lenses. Not all operational risks were technical, and tales of encounters with rams, a bull, and with armed militia, sometimes took members of the most appreciative audience out of their comfort zone.
