The annual Wessex Trophy Battle was held at the Corn Exchange, Dorchester and was, as always, hard fought.
Our Judge, Alison Cawley ARPS DPAGB EFIAP, had a tough job separating the photos but did superbly and gave every single one a full critique.
The 6 clubs competing - Blandford, Bridport, Dorchester, Swanage, Wareham and Weymouth - all entered great quality photos, with plenty of variety, which made for a really interesting evening.
The overall, and well-deserved, winners were Wareham. Blandford and Dorchester tied for 2nd place and Bridport was only half a point behind them. As far as Dorchester is concerned, we had two special mentions: Spike Piddock received an HC for his 'Blue Trigger Fish' and Paul Raudner had his image 'Decay Under a Big Sky' held back with a score of 9.5 points.
The raffle was also a great success, raising £97 for Dorset Search and Rescue
. Thanks to all who donated prizes including Martin Addison FRPS, Chris Palmer FRPS and Vince Cater from Fotospeed.
A huge thank you must go to John & Di Tilsley who have been organising this event for the last 18 years. Also thank you to Stephen Jones for being our projectionist and digital organiser for the night, to Val Brierley and Maggie Lawrence on the Raffle and to Neil Crick and his team for the half time teas and coffees.
Next year is the 50th Wessex Battle and it will go ahead, but not at the Corn Exchange. Next year we will be in the Brownsword Hall on Monday 28th October. Don't miss it!
