WCPF Inter-Club Print Competition, 11 Aug 2019

How did Dorchester do at the first WCPF Inter-Club Print Competition?
Sunday, 11 August 2019 saw the inaugural WCPF Inter-Club Print Competition, a WCPF event organised and hosted by a team from Dorchester Camera Club - Helen & Stephen Jones, Jane & Stephen Lee, Di & John Tilsley, Penny & Spike Piddock, Val & Greg Duncan and Mary Cantrille, and aided by a team of helpers from the WCPF.

39 clubs took part, 15 prints each, judged by Caroline Colegate, Jean Brooks & Glyn Edmunds. Torbay won with 182 points. Bristol were second with 181 points and Dorchester were delighted to come a very creditable 3rd, just behind one point behind, with 180 points. The top two clubs will represent the WCPF at the PAGB Inter-Club Print Competition in Blackburn at the end of October.

Congratulations must go to Lisa Bukalders who scored a full 15 marks for 'Ostrich Family Outing' and to Jane Lee who scored 13 for ‘Bison on the Ridge’ and who also received a Judges Award from Caroline Colegate. Spike Piddock also scored 13 for ‘Swimming with Jacks’. Tim Downton got 12 with a 5 for ‘Squacco Heron with Catch’ and Stephen Jones got 12 with a 5 for ‘That Way’ - but Jane’s Judge’s Award was our only award.

Our other entries all scored 11 or 12 and were by Jane Lee (2), Martin Davenport, Spike Piddock, Tim Downton, Stephen Lee, Paul Clarke, James Kelly, Stephen Jones and Helen Jones.

Thanks to ‘Team Dorch’ for everything they did to help with the day, including the external competition selections group who chose our entry. It was a great day and we will be doing it all again next year thought possibly in a larger venue. The Brownsword Hall was a little ‘cosy’! Congratulations to Torbay and Bristol and thank you to everyone who took part.
