Super Saturday - A Day of Inter-Club Competitions, 14 November 2020
We took part in two digital inter-club competitions on Saturday 14th November.

In the morning we entered the Western Counties Photographic Federation Kingswood Salver Competition judged by Leigh Woolford AWPF EFIAP DPAGB BPE3. The Kingswood is a panel competition – 5 images on a theme of your choice by 5 different photographers which form a coherent and cohesive panel. It is normally a print completion, but this year entries were digital and the competition was held via Zoom.

Our panel was Wessex Impressions with ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) images by Stephen Jones, Martin Davenport, Tony Gill, Ian Bennett and Jane Lee. The photos were arranged on a background which was a larger version of Tony’s central photo. We didn’t get anywhere but that’s all part of the game! There were some truly lovely panels and it was amazing the standard of work that clubs have managed to produce over a year of lockdown. Congratulations to Torbay who won with a beautiful panel of monochrome portraits.

In the afternoon were invited along with some other clubs from around the UK to take part in a fun Battle organised by Rhondda Camera Club. This is usually a Welsh Federation competition but the power of Zoom meant they could invite clubs from all over the UK. There were 25 clubs, each with 4 images, judged by Russell Lindsay FBPE EFIAP MPAGB.

There was some stunning work here - every club had a wonderful selection of strong images and it wasn’t an easy job scoring them. We were very pleased to come joint 9th with a score of 68/80. Our photos were by Jane Lee, Helen Jones, Stephen Jones and Paul Clarke. Congratulations to the winning club, Catchlight of Belfast with an incredible but very well deserved score of 78/80.
