Competition - PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship (Warwick), 17 Jul 2021

External Competition - PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship (Warwick), 17 Jul 2021
Dorchester represented the Western Counties at the PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship on 17 July. This is usually held at Warwick University, but the 2021 competition was online - we still managed to spend the hottest day of the year in a darkened room.

The competition is an inter-club battle between the top two clubs in each UK photographic federation, together with the 8 finalists from the previous year (a total of 37 clubs this year). We were joined by Bristol to make up the pair of qualifying clubs from the Western Counties. Each club registered a 'bank' of 40 images from club members and this year we preselected 16 images to make up two initial rounds of 8 images each.

We were placed joint 9th after the first round of 8 preselected images. After the second round (another 8 images) we'd dropped to 12th place. The top 8 clubs went forward into the final; there was no ‘plate’ competition this year. Congratulations to Bristol Photographic Society, who qualified for the final and finished in 8th place.

We took work by 16 different photographers and used work by 9. A special mention to Tim Downton who scored 14 for “Glossy Ibis Tossing Grub” Well done also to the photographers who scored 12: Tony Gill for “Lead Solo” & “The Wood Beyond The World”, Stephen Jones for “Powerslide”, Jane Lee for “Armand Breaks Free” & “Red Signals”, Stephen Lee for “Snowstorm in the Kootenay Valley”, Garry Prescott for “Botallack Mine” and Jenny Warr for “Marbled Whites on Pyramidal Orchids”.

The winners were Rolls Royce Derby in the Final. Here is a gallery for all the images that we used on the day.
