Super Saturday - A Day of Inter-Club Competitions, 13 Nov 2021
We took part in two digital inter-club competitions on Saturday 13th Nov 2021

In the morning we entered the Western Counties Photographic Federation Kingswood Salver Competition judged by Ross McKelvey MPAGB MFIAP FIPF EFIAP/p FBPE. The Kingswood is a panel competition – 5 images on a theme of our choice by 5 different photographers which form a coherent and cohesive panel. It is normally a print completion, but this year entries were digital and the competition was held via Zoom.

Our panel of macro images was Pollinators with Bee and Hoverfly images by Garry Prescott, Jenny Warr, Jane Lee, Annette Beardsley and Stephen Lee. There was some stunning work amongst a record entry of 31 panels and again it was amazing to see the standard of photography that clubs have managed to produce during Covid times. Our panel received positive feedback but was unplaced against so many strong panels. However, Garry Prescott’s lovely macro image “Leaf-cutter Bee” was the winning individual image and was awarded the Vivian Croucher Plate. Congratulations to Bristol who won with a beautiful panel of monochrome people pictures.

In the afternoon were invited along with some other clubs from the UK and around the world to take part in a fun Battle organised by Rhondda Camera Club. This is usually a Welsh Federation competition but the power of Zoom meant they could invite clubs from all over the work. There were 26 clubs, each with 4 images, judged by Leo Rich ARPS, EFIAP/g, DPAGB, APAGB. There was some stunning work - every club had a wonderful selection of strong images and it wasn’t an easy job for the judge to score. Congratulations to the winning club, Tenby, with an incredible but very well deserved score of 77/80.
