Report - Warwick Report for PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship

Warwick 2017 Report.
We joined 38 clubs from around the country at Warwick University Arts Centre to compete in the PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship. The clubs were made up of two qualifiers from each regional federation together with the eight finalists from last year's competition. Dorchester and F8 qualified as winners and runners up of the Western Counties Digital Projected Image Competition.

Four club members were at Warwick for the day (John and Di Tilsley with Val and Greg Duncan). Our eight first round images were preselected by Stephen and Helen Jones after consultation with our club's selection panel. At the completion of the first round Dorchester had scored 103 points and were lying in 5th or 6th place. With some trepidation we choose the eight new images for the second round and amazingly scored 104 points, which put us clearly at the top of the qualifying clubs and in 6th place overall. We were in the final for the first time since 2009!

After the first two rounds and about 600 images, we were now aware of what was doing well and what wasn't. For the final, we chose our best ten images from the first two rounds, but selecting a further ten images from our bank was a real challenge. Scoring was high and we'd never seen three judges score so high - no one used the 2 button and there were so many top marks. With our final selection we kept up the pressure and maintained our 6th place overall and won a bronze medal.

An excellent result with automatic selection to next year's event.
