Nature Special Interest Group
As the name suggests, the Nature SIG is all about nature, whether that’s in the air, on land, or underwater, and whether local or from the other side of the World.
Dorchester Camera Club has a reputation for its high standard of nature photography and the Nature SIG was formed in 2021 to create an opportunity for our nature enthusiasts to share their work and enjoy their common passion.

The Nature Group has monthly meetings on Zoom on the third Thursday of the month, commencing at 7.30pm. Group members submit images to share which are viewed as a slide show, and other members may comment, make suggestions or ask questions. Sometimes a member might give a short talk on a particular subject. The meetings are recorded, and the Zoom recording and slideshow are made available after the meeting for all those unable to attend or for subsequent viewing. The Group currently has about 35 members and some examples of their amazing nature photography is shown here.

At meetings, members are encouraged to talk about their images, especially if there is a story to be told or any unusual behaviour. Subjects range from birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, underwater life, trees, plants and fungi to microscopic slime moulds. Some members are particularly knowledgeable about a particular subject or location and at every meeting we always see or learn something new about the amazing natural world we live in.

The Nature SIG aims to be friendly, encouraging and supportive and help its members to grow and develop their knowledge as well as their photography skills.
Any club members interested in joining can contact Jane Lee on dorcamclub@gmail.com to be added to the circulation list.
