We were treated to an enthralling evening of stories from Janine’s travels in India illustrated with her memorable photographs.

The evening began with Rob showing us a photograph of the large pile of equipment that he takes on his travels. Judged on the quality of the images that he went on to show us, the effort required to carry all his equipment up mountains, along the coast and elsewhere has been well worthwhile.

The evening was a roller-coaster ride of the long journey, with all its twists and turns, taken by Ashley Franklin in the world of photography to where he is today.

What a wonderful evening seeing what we can’t see normally! Who knew there were so many things invisible to the human eye but with the techniques available to those who investigated, could be seen? An evening of revelations for most, if not all, and so well described and illustrated by Adrian.

At the start of this season our club programme showed ‘An evening with Guy Edwardes’ – this was highly anticipated to be very special. How wonderful it was therefore that it turned out to be even better than expected.

A fascinating and thought provoking talk by Eddie Leach DPAGB. 

Di and John took us on a magical journey to the Danube Delta  sharing, comparing and contrasting their digital and printed photographs taken during a visit last year.

Over the course of this evening, Les treated us to well over 100 of his prints displayed on ingenious stands built by Les himself.

The first Monday evening meeting of the 2025/26 season was a celebration of the work of the Club’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and of two members who have been awarded individual recognition for their work.

On Monday night we were treated to a talk by Jayne Bond LRPS CrGP, who recently joined Dorchester Cameral club.

On the last day of March, the Club was treated to a stimulating talk from Sue Sibley. 

James describes himself as a Photographer of Heritage Architecture always looking for unique locations.

The Dorchester Camera Club was treated to another engaging evening with Jack Lodge, the master landscape photographer.

We were treated to a very interesting documentary talk by Tim Green.

Saddleworth is not a single place, more an area, and home to Christine since the 1970’s.

Seeing the world as it is. Documentary photography covers as many topics as you can think of and what a range was covered by Sue MacPherson.

The title of Sian’s talk hardly prepared us for what was an absolutely fascinating evening into her use of Polaroid film and  how she turns it into the most amazing artwork.

Sue and Tim  – two of our well respected members treated everyone to a wonderful presentation entitled “100% Pure Nature” – actually it was 100% pure joy!

John Gill joined us from Castleford on Zoom. His presentation on street photography proved to be very thought provoking.

How many people know really know anything about Freemining in the Forest of Dean, or even in some cases where the Forest of Dean actually is? We certainly did by the end of a really fascinating and informative evening thanks to the presentation by Nick Hodgson who is obviously as passionate about it as the subjects he had photographed going about their work.

This was another superb night from our own members with two very different approaches to their photography. Hence the Title ‘Chalk and Cheese’

Janine Scola a member of Dorchester took us on a roller coaster ride of two journeys. The first half in Zambia and the second into Uganda to meet our distant cousins.

I need to start this review with a disclaimer, just in case you don’t know – ‘I love Marmite’.

We were treated to a fascinating and thoughtful talk from Tony Bramley FRPS on Monday evening.

A ‘master storyteller’ and he is indeed – not just in words but in photographs too.

It is always a good Club Night when our own members take centre stage and this was no exception.

John's presentation, was a captivating journey through the art of the visual narrative. And a presentation he stepped into at very short notice with typical enthusiasm.

Those recently joined club members when asked if they knew of fellow member ‘Rob Bridge’ the answer was ‘No’ – who is he - what does he look like?

Roy’s first visit to China in 2010 came about as he was President of the Royal Photographic Society and as such was invited to Shanghai for a Photographic Festival and World Fair

Perhaps the first clue as to what was in store could be gained by a perusal of the respective initials after the names of the night’s speakers.

A Good Photograph should stir an emotion/tell a story.

Twenty nine members of the Nature SIG (Special Interest Group) put on an amazing show.

What a pleasure it was to welcome Ian Bateman back to the club on Monday evening. Has it really been 4 years since he last visited us?

They say variety is the spice of life and we certainly had a wonderful variety of subjects shown to us by John Hudson.

Emma’s interest in photography started at an early age, with the encouragement of her father and helpfully, the use of his cameras!

“You only see a sparrow once” is a re-quote from Simon Turnbull’s presentation. Strangely this statement made more sense as the evening progressed.

The first night of our season should be something special, out of the ordinary and set to inspire our photography during the forthcoming year.

This presentation from Kevin provided detailed explanations and images which supported his own personal approach to photography.

I was asked to write the review for Janine Scola’s ‘Call of the Wild’ talk this evening, and I couldn’t have asked for better speaker for my first review.

A thought-provoking title which belied the evening’s presentation!

Putting together an AV of images set to music is an art form in itself and last night we saw many wonderful examples of this ranging from the funny through educational to downright beautiful.

It was a packed house for our annual Panels night and we certainly had a feast of photography to see and hear about.

What a treat of an evening we experienced – a wildlife safari and we didn’t need to move from our chairs!

Another evening where “one of our own” is welcomed to present their favourite genre of photography to club members.

Irresistible title for me and my relationship with Nepal and I was not disappointed in the journey Julian took us on this evening.

First meeting of the new year being billed as Completely in the Dark came as a very welcome and different sort of club night.

We were very privileged to have two of our members agreeing to show us their work and what a treat we had

It was clear from the start that Derwood Pamphilon has a passion that steers his photography in a specific direction.

We are very lucky in the club to have so many talented members prepared to share their pictures and Garry did just that

We certainly went ‘Near and Far’ with Rob Nolan’s photography; from family weddings to Cornwall to USA and then to deep space; all with some amazing images to admire en route. What a journey!

After a 30 year Warren his renewed passion and has progressed from his first tentative steps in finding his own style to award winning photography.

Huw specialises in creating images that for him, capture the true nature of his subject matter.

Polina introduced us to the world of flower and still life photography from her perspective, and very much her genre, where she can convey her feelings and emotions through the lens of her camera.

Dorchester Camera Club members were treated to a wonderful evening of imaginative and creative extravaganza.
