Colours, Tones and Textures

Ruth said that the most important thing is to take a picture that means something to you. Then, using her own images showed how textures could enhance an image, the use of tones - especially in monochrome, and going on to explain the colour wheel and how colours complemented each other, and how all three elements were crucial to making an image stand out. We saw a series of wonderful images demonstrating just that.

In the second half Ruth showed us in detail just how she goes about processing her images and we saw a fairly mundane dawn shot transformed by adjusting light and colour and bringing out the textures.

All in all a very instructive evening.
