Wessex Battle 2022

in Dorset, several club members made the journey to Wareham on 25 October for the return of the Wessex Battle - the first since 2019. This is a friendly competition between nine clubs from the "Wessex" region and this year it was the turn of Wareham Camera Club to host the evening at the Wareham Parish Hall.

We selected our images from the placed and highly commended images in the recent Open Digital club competition. The format of the competition is a straight battle with eight images per club and this year our judge Sue Sibley gave each image a very thorough critique and scored fairly and consistently.

It wasn't our year. Scoring was tight and we finished in 7th place - a few extra points would have made a big difference, but not enough to finish in the top three. Congratulations to the winners, Wimborne Camera Club, closely followed by BH Photographic Club, then our hosts Wareham in third. The individual winner was Gordon Chamberlain of Wareham with "Reed Bunting Feeding"

There was a silver lining for Dorchester - with Jenny Warr's "Meadow Pipit Singing" held back and awarded a top score of ten.
